For my artwork I chose oil pastels on watercolour paper, because they are easy to use and I could get my fingers into them, creating shading and blending of the colours. I chose to draw a picture that demonstrates the river of life. I wanted to show that going through the disease there is still hope. As life passes through the years, the sunset slowly occurs. Yet as the memory fades in Alzheimer’s disease there is a glimmer of hope with the rising of the sun. In looking at my picture I hope people will see it as an invitation to learn about the disease and that there are positives in living with this disease. With the art project I gained greater insight to myself. In doing my picture I was able to recognise and explore feelings and emotions rather than just words in living with the disease.
